May 3, 2018 (The Woodlands, Texas) – Inspired by Howard Robard Hughes Jr.’s sense of adventure, discovery, timelessness and pioneering spirit, the luxury boutique steakhouse Robard’s has been reimagined for a new generation of foodies. Beginning May 2018, The Woodland’s preeminent destination restaurant will delight locals and travelers with a new way to dine. The new Robard’s redefines the classic American steakhouse with a menu that showcases sophisticated cuts of dry-aged beef, artisanal breads, fresh-catch seafood, inventive desserts, and handcrafted garden-to-glass cocktails under the direction of Area Executive Chef David Morris.

“I am honored to be a part of such a monumental culinary moment for The Woodlands, which will change the traditional steakhouse experience for local residents and travelers,” said Chef Morris. “Howard Hughes was a truly inspiring individual and I enjoy channeling his spirit to bring a sense of adventure and curiosity to each meal at Robard’s.”

Offering vintage luxury with a modern twist, the new Robard’s features an in-house butchery and smokehouse. Chef Morris and his team create a personal touch to each hand-selected steak, utilizing signature dry-aging techniques for each cut of USDA prime grade beef. The restaurant also demonstrates the farm-to-table philosophy, sourcing the freshest of everything – from the Gulf Coast and beyond. Signature menu items include “dock to door in 24” seafood, Prime Certified Angus Beef, 50-day, dry-aged Texas Waygu, specialty lettuces hydro-grown by Sustainable Harvesters in Hockley, Texas and coming this fall, housemade honey from the 100,000 resident bees on property. These delectable dishes are complemented by a selection of expertly crafted cocktails, including The Woodlands 75 featuring Aviation American Gin, a spin-off of the classic French 75.

Lovers of great food cannot miss Sunday Brunch at Robard’s, which boasts a culinary adventure of global influences. The recently launched Market Brunch menu includes a free-flowing mimosa, Bloody Mary and Bloody Maria bar, fresh seafood, ceviche and omelet stations, cured and smoked meats, cheeses, specialty pastries, salads, and a choice of Chef David’s Lemon Ricotta Pancakes, Texas Sticky Bun French Toast, Lobster Truffle Mac & Cheese, as well as many other delectable brunch favorites.

Rivaling the bold, inventive dishes on the menu, Robard’s new design combines the flair for the dramatic with the sensibility of the traditional, featuring both cosmopolitan and timeless elements. With a rich, sumptuous color palette of sable, sand, and indigo, the use of authentic shapes and modern finishes can be admired throughout. Classic leather chairs with hammered metal accents help unify the space, while small details like stitching and brass accents provide thoughtful moments of discovery throughout Robard’s.

Welcoming with an atmosphere that is inviting, vibrant and cosmopolitan, the redesigned restaurant draws guests into a setting of warm hospitality arrayed with memorabilia, such as vintage photographs and movie posters, waiting to be explored and enjoyed. Enlivened and intimate private dining spaces are enhanced with dramatic, eccentric designs, while the restaurant’s lounge area and outdoor patio spaces encourages guests to gather both day and night.

Robard’s also offers enhanced private dining in the intimate Legacy and Premier Rooms. Conceived as a contemporary take on the classic ‘Chef’s Table,’ The Legacy Room exudes sophisticated charm with rich leather chairs, and a stunning mural of Hughes’ Spruce Goose airplane. The Legacy Room can host up to 20 guests for a seated dinner or cocktail hour. Accommodating up to 40 guests, The Premier Room features stunning wood paneling, and floor-to-ceiling windows with a private exit to Robard’s patio showcasing uninterrupted views of the forest-lined golf course.

Guests to Robard’s are also encouraged to enjoy a tipple in the new Robard’s Bar. Channeling the brilliance of Howard Hughes, the new space features an illuminated, iridescent white onyx bar. Complete with modern blue accents throughout, the space seamlessly blends the loves of the beloved Aerospace Maverick – film and flight.

The Key to the Kitchen

The visionary behind the new dining experience at Robard’s can be found in the kitchen – Area Executive Chef David Morris. Newly appointed, Morris arrived to The Woodlands from The Fairmont Scottsdale Princess in Arizona, where he spent the past five years as Executive Chef.

Throughout his career, Morris has met and been inspired by some of the industry’s brightest lights, including Michelin Star-rated and James Beard Award-winning chefs. He counts among his proudest successes the role he played in developing the food & beverage culture of Scottsdale during his time in Arizona.

The adventurous heart of the kitchen, Morris channels the creative essence of Howard Hughes in every dish he creates. Curious, passionate, and immensely talented, Morris continually seeks to transform beloved classics into extraordinary new culinary experiences. He earned an A.O.S. degree in restaurant management, culinary arts from Scottsdale Culinary Institute, and an A.A.S. degree in culinary arts from The Art Institute of Phoenix.
